Cinnamon Sticky Buns

Ingredients
  • Dough:
  • 2 tbsp dry active yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • ¼ cup white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • pinch of salt
  • 3-4 cups of all purpose flour
  • Filling:
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • ¼ stick of butter softened
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • Syrup:
  • ½ stick of melted butter
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup chopped pecans
Instructions
  1. Using upright mixer, combine yeast and warm milk.
  2. Let stand for about five minutes.
  3. Gradually add all dough ingredients with mixer on low speed and using dough hook attachment.
  4. Add flour until dough is elastic and slightly sticky.
  5. Place in a greased bowl and cover with plastic wrap.
  6. Set in a warm place for about an hour or until doubled in size.
  7. While dough is rising, combine sugar and cinnamon for filling in a bowl.
  8. Set softened butter aside for later.
  9. In a glass or ceramic pie dish, pour melted butter so that it covers the entire bottom of the dish.
  10. Sprinkle brown sugar and pecans over the melted butter.
  11. Once the dough has risen, preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  12. Roll dough out onto a floured surface.
  13. As best as possible, roll out into rectangular shape about ½ inch thick.
  14. Spread softened butter over the dough and liberally cover the butter with the sugar-cinnamon mixture until the entire piece of dough is covered.
  15. Roll the dough starting from the long side closest to you until the dough is in the shape of a log.
  16. Using a sharp knife, cut 1 inch slices of the dough log and gently place into the syrup in the pie dish.
  17. Once each slice is placed snuggly in the dish, place in the preheated oven and bake for 20 minutes or until buns are golden brown and syrup and filling are oozing out of each bun.
  18. Serve warm.
