Ingredients
  • ¾ cup vegetable shortening
  • 1¼ cups firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • ⅓ cup milk
  • 1½ teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1 cup butterscotch chips
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. In an upright mixer, combine shortening, brown sugar, egg, milk, and vanilla extract on low speed.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and oats.
  4. Add dry mixture gradually to the wet ingredients and continue to mix on low speed.
  5. Add raisins and chips and turn mixer off after a moment.
  6. Drop by tablespoonful or small ice cream scoopful onto a greased baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 10 minutes or until golden brown.
