Homemade Caramel Sauce

- 1¼ cup sugar
- 5 tbsp unsalted butter
- ½ cup heavy whipping cream
- Optional: 1 tsp course Kosher salt
- Pour sugar into a small pot over medium heat. Stir constantly until sugar melts.
- Once the sugar is melted, add the butter, one tablespoon at a time. Be careful, as the butter may splatter.
- Once the butter is completely combined, stir for 3 minutes.
- Add heavy cream and stir for one more minute. Remove from heat and serve.
- Enjoy!
