Sesame Bagel Bread Rings
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 tablespoon dry yeast
- 2 eggs
- 2 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 3-1/2 cups (about) all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons salt
- Topping:
- ½ cup sesame seeds and/or poppy seeds
- 1 egg, beaten
- Dissolve dry yeast in warm water.
- In a separate larger bowl combine the eggs, oil, salt and sugar.
- Then add the water and yeast to the larger bowl.
- Add flour until mixture is soft and easy to handle, but not sticky.
- Knead dough for approximately 10 minutes.
- Cover bowl with towel and keep in warm place until dough doubles in size.
- Take a handful of dough and roll into a long log.
- Then roll the log across sesame seeds and/or poppy seeds until the entire roll is covered.
- Form an oblong circle and pinch the ends together.
- Place the ring onto a baking sheet and let rise for at least an hour.
- Then brush a beaten egg over the top of the rings and place into the oven at 400 degrees until the bread is golden brown.
